What To Wear For Yoga?raza gazi
Yoga requires all kinds of poses and contorted postures of the body. It is best to wear as little as possible and be as comfortable as one can be. However, people have inhibitions and cannot always wear minimal clothing. That’s where activewear clothing of different kinds (fitness apparel) comes into play, providing a suitable alternative for each body type.
Here we are listing down the various options men and women have for wearing to a yoga class. The clothing has to be a snug fit and not too loose or fluffy.
Sandos: These are great for both men and women in the yoga class. Sandos are vests that are made of materials other than just cotton. Poly-blended fabrics provide a great look and comfortable weight and feel for sandos. Women usually wear sandos over their sports bras if they have inhibitions regarding showing too much skin in the yoga class. Sandos are also called Men’s Gym Tanks.
Tights: Both men and women have poly-blend and Spandex tights in activewear categories. These Spandex tights help you get into contorted postures easily as they are a slippery material. Plus they are also very lightweight and easy on the skin. It feels like you are wearing a second skin. Their taut and tight fit also makes you feel all your muscles as you do the various yoga exercises. Running tights for women can also double up as yoga tights.
Sports bra – this one is for the women alone. You must have pondered over the question “Can you wear a normal bra to the gym?”. Well, you can’t! Due to the various inverted poses and all kinds of movements, it is best advised to go for a sports bra for your yoga class. Even if you’re wearing a full covering t-shirt, it’s just much more comfortable for you to not have things moving around. Sports bras offer comfort and support and allow for movement. The sports bra doesn’t have to be as form-fitting as a running bra, just enough to hold things together in poses and offer comfort. Yoga is all about peace of mind and you need the specific clothing built for comfort and support, not something that is too tight and makes you feel uncomfortable. Avoid bras that have fastenings as you will be rubbing and rolling on the floor mat a lot.
Yoga pants – you can wear tights or leggings and you can also go for yoga pants. These are looser compared to the leggings and tights. Yoga pants can be compared to harem pants also but they are not quite the same. Yoga pants offer the benefit that they are a bit lose and don’t slip up or down when you do the poses.
Yoga tops – whether male or female, you want tops that stay in place when you are in inverted poses. Thus loose tops are a no-no.
Avoid wearing short shorts and this is especially true for men. Also, avoid wearing transparent tights, it doesn’t look good for things to show when you’re stretching. You must also avoid wearing loose shorts and running shorts for the yoga class. When you are inverted and upside down these shorts will reveal stuff that should remain under wraps.
